The finalists have been announced this week for both the Leeds Sports Awards 2017 and Bradford Sports Awards 2017.
Both shortlists recognise achievement at both an elite and grassroots level in what was a bumper year of sport in 2016 with the Olympics and Paralympic Games.
The likes of Kadeena Cox and Alistair Brownlee MBE are the leading candidates for the Leeds Sports Awards whilst rugby league internationals Elliott Whitehead and Danielle Bose are among the shortlisted finalists in the Senior Achievers categories in the Bradford Sports Awards. Team GB weightlifter and Yorkshire Sport Foundation Hall of Fame member Rebekah Tiler (pictured) is shortlisted in the Young Achievers category (Bradford).
Both awards nights also recognise both the achievements of community sports clubs and acknowledge the contributions of volunteers to making sport happen in the two districts.
Organised by Active Bradford, the Bradford Sports Awards will be held at The Bradford Hotel on Thursday 2nd March. The full list of finalists and information on how to purchase tickets can be found HERE.
The first direct Arena will host the Leeds Sports Awards five days later with details of finalists and ticket information available on the Sport Leeds website.
