Come and see the Tour de Yorkshire Trophies – Bradford City Hall, 4th April, 9am – 5pm

People in the Bradford district will get the chance to see both the men’s and the women’s Tour de Yorkshire trophies when they go on display.

The official trophies, which will be awarded to the winners of this year’s Tour de Yorkshire, will be on display at Bradford City Hall on Tuesday 4 April between 9am and 5pm.

The trophies which feature a big golden Y have been designed and made by hand at world leading trophy makers Thomas Fattorini Ltd.

Thomas Fattorini Ltd was founded in 1827 by Antonio Fattorini, an Italian speaking immigrant who settled in Yorkshire. The family run business designed and made the FA Cup which was lifted for the first time in 1911 by Bradford City Football Club.

The current director of the company, Thomas Fattorini, designed both the trophies himself. The Y is made of brass and copper based alloy, which has been polished and gold plated. The base of the trophy is made from aluminium, which has also been polished and chrome plated.

It took around three to four weeks to make, and a number of craftsmen and women were involved with its design and manufacturing.

In 2016, the men’s trophy was won by Direct Energie’s Thomas Voeckler, while Kirsten Wild, of Hitec-Products took home the women’s trophy.

Visitors can look forward to having a selfie with the trophy at the top of the Civic Staircase when it comes to City Hall.

Stage Three of this year’s Tour de Yorkshire starts in City Park on Sunday April 30. It will then pass through Manningham, Frizinghall, Shipley, Saltaire, the bottom of Baildon, Menston, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Ilkley, Addingham, Silsden, Riddlesden, Keighley, Cross Roads, Haworth, Oxenhope, Denholme, Mountain and Queensbury.
