Students from Greenhead College in Huddersfield returned from the AoC Sport National Championships in Nottingham with five medals last weekend.
Forty-two students were part of the Yorkshire and Humber team that finished sixth overall, with Greenhead College students taking home three golds and two bronze. Students competed in badminton, cross country, hockey, netball, table tennis and tennis against athletes from colleges across England and Wales during the three-day event.
Greenhead College were crowned National Champions in ladies hockey, mixed badminton and cross country, with Holmfirth Harrier Olivia Sykes claiming individual bronze during the race.
The College also claimed bronze in the tightly contested tennis competition in what was the most successful National Championships ever for the College.
The college has also excelled in the AoC Sport leagues this season, claiming league titles in the men’s and ladies football; netball and rugby league.
The ladies hockey team are in the final of the colleges’ national knockout cup next week, where they face Peter Symonds for the fourth consecutive year. They are hoping to add another national title to the one achieved at the weekend.
The mixed badminton team are also in the national knockout cup finals next week which are taking place at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.
