Sportivate is a £56 million Lottery funded London 2012 legacy project that gives more young people the chance to discover a sport that they love.

Sportivate is a project aimed to get more 11-25 year olds taking part in sport or physical activity.

We are expecting to fund a wide range of activities across the county, targeting all sections of the community.

The funding available can help pay for coaches, equipment, venue costs, marketing or coach education.

Sportivate will fund 6-8 sessions after which there must be an opportunity for participants to continue with the activity.

Please note that applications for the latest round of funding are now closed.

Current priorities

There will be three themes within the commissioning process. All projects MUST identify they focus on one of the following;

  • Women and Girls Focus

Projects delivering to women/girls only OR targeted at women/girls

  • Disability Focus

Projects which actively engage disabled young people and are fully inclusive

  • Sport for Change
    • Projects which target specific groups of young people who are unlikely to access ‘mainstream’ opportunities and/or require additional support in order to engage in physical activity. This may include: Young people in care, Youth Justice Service/ Youth offending Service, YMCA, BME groups where young people have EAL, NEET young people.
    • It is expected that Sportivate projects may also contribute towards additional social outcomes which could include: developing social inclusion, enabling positive behaviour change, act as a diversion from anti-social behaviour, raise aspirations.
  • Deprived Communities

Communities which fall within the top 10% deprived areas of South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire will be prioritised.
