Schools from Calderdale topped the medal table at the West Yorkshire School Games winter festival, in association with Leeds Beckett University.
Many schools from across Calderdale competed on Tuesday, claiming five medals in total, with three gold and two silver medals won across five different sports at the Headingley Campus of Leeds Beckett University.
Around 800 young people competed for the chance to be crowned West Yorkshire champions in boccia, disability sportshall athletics, hockey, netball and orienteering.
Schools from Leeds won six medals in total, but claimed one less gold than Calderdale. Bradford and Kirklees also won a total of five medals. Wakefield won one bronze medal.
The festival was opened by Paralympic legend Hannah Cockroft MBE, who addressed the athletes at the opening ceremony and was also on hand to present some of the winners with their medals.
Nigel Harrison, CEO of Yorkshire Sport Foundation said: “Congratulations to all the young people who did themselves, their schools and their districts proud.
“An event like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of a team of volunteers, and I’d like to thank them all for their invaluable contribution.”
