Posted 15th January 2020

The shortlist for the Bradford Sports Awards has now been announced for the fifth annual sports awards ceremony.

Active Bradford received another record amount of nominations, which is testimony to the incredible achievements and success stories seen throughout sport in Bradford.

The finalists were announced today on Active Bradford’s Twitter with Adil Rashid (part of the World Cup winning England Cricket Team), Andrew Dovernor (Great Britain triathlete) and Dean Harrison (Isle of Man Senior TT Winner, Motorcyclist) among the Sportsman of the year award finalists.

The awards also see Sportswoman finalists such as Amy Hardcastle (2019 Telegraph Woman of Steel, Rugby League), Ellie Bowden (National champion, Taekwondo) and Jasmin Akter (England Street Child Cricket World Cup player).

Wayne Jacobs, Chairperson of the Awards’ organisers Active Bradford, is humbled by the announcement. “We have a lot of amazing people in our district. We have people who have achieved success, both personal to them and in the sporting world. We also have people who give their emotions and energy to others for them to be able to achieve their successes. It’s fantastic to hear more about these people and to be able to celebrate their achievements with them.

“I believe the judging panel had a very difficult afternoon choosing finalists for each award. Everyone should be proud of what they’ve achieved over the last year, and beyond.”

This year’s category sponsors include: Broadway Bradford, City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Living Well. We also have new award sponsors who are, Grand Central, Napoleons, Bradford BID, LCF Law, JU:MP and Woodhouse Grove.

The award ceremony will be held at the Utilita Energy Stadium on Thursday 12th March. The event promises to be a fantastic night of celebration of sport at both a professional and community level and is not to be missed.
