Talented athletes in West Yorkshire are being offered support with their training thanks to a partnership between Yorkshire Sport Foundation, four local authorities, and Kirklees Active Leisure.
Applications are now open for individuals to be part of STARS (Supporting Talented Athletes Rewards Scheme), which provides nationally ranked sports athletes with free access to participating facilities in the county for personal training and development.
The scheme is open to athletes of all ages who have been part of a national squad in the last 12 months; are ranked in the top 20 of their sport by the national governing body; or are currently part of a national training programme.
Anyone applying must either be a student, resident or member of a sports club in West Yorkshire. It is only open to amateur sportspeople and supporting evidence must be provided with all applications.
Becca Gallagher, Development Manager at Yorkshire Sport Foundation, said: “We’re grateful to the support of the four local authorities and Kirklees Active Leisure for making STARS possible.
“There’s a lot of talented sportspeople in the county, but the costs of pursuing that passion can sometimes be a barrier to progression. We hope that STARS provides the opportunity for as many people as possible to achieve their ambitions.”
All applications for STARS must be made online. To apply, click HERE.
