We have taken the difficult decision to cancel all School Games county final events in West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire that were due to take place between now and the Easter half-term holiday.
The events rely on a significant number of people to ensure they are viable, including volunteers, sport organisers, venues and, of course, the schools themselves. In the last few days, a number of these groups have told us that they have decided not to be part of the event, and we fully respect their decision.
Consequently, and to provide clarity for others due to take part in the coming weeks, we have come to this decision.
The events affected are:
West Yorkshire School Games sports hall athletics – Tuesday 17 March
South Yorkshire School Games winter festival – Friday 20 March
West Yorkshire School Games winter festival – Wednesday 25 March
We understand that this is a time of uncertainty, but would emphasise the benefit being physically active can play in the prevention of becoming ill.
