Nominate now for Active School Award 2021

Posted 21st April 2021

The Active School Awards 2021 will celebrate the South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire schools who have kept children active during a year like no other.

When schools closed to the majority of pupils in March 2020 and again in January 2021, they were significant milestones in the pandemic and provided a whole new set of challenges for teachers and pupils to rise to.

As well as providing care and education for vulnerable children and children of key workers in school, teachers had to balance this with providing online lessons and resources for those learning at home.

Throughout all of this, we know that many schools have continued to make sport and activity an integral part of the school week, knowing the role it plays in a balanced curriculum and supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of children.

We’re calling on schools, teachers or parents to nominate their school for an Active School Award so they can be recognised for their efforts.  There’s no long nomination form, just a few questions to give you the opportunity to tell us what’s been happening.

There will be a winner in each of the nine districts across South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, with those winners making the shortlist for our two county awards.

The winners in each district will receive a plaque to display at their school, with a special prize for the county winners.

Nominate your school by 12pm on Monday 7 June.
