Venues, especially community venues can still lack a bit of confidence to re-open, so its worth sharing EMD UK’s guidance for instructors and venues with your network.
The Instructor Ready standard mark is a self-assessment scheme that has been designed by EMD UK to provide a level of ‘confidence’ for all group exercise instructors in the fitness industry.
The scheme also provides reassurance to venues that instructors have clear processes in place and are following industry and Government COVID-19 guidance on cleanliness and social distancing.
The self-assessment will ask instructors to ensure they have:
- Current insurance
- Complete COVID-19 risk assessments for all venues
- Appropriate PAR-Qs for all participants
- Are taking appropriate measures to maintain social distancing
- And more
Instructors will be issued with a self-declaration certificate to display in venues and share with clients. They can start their self-assessment here: https://emduk.org/instructor-ready/
There’s a section for venues which outlines what an instructor is having to achieve and what they should be asking instructors to provide them with.
Users and hirers of a venue have responsibility for managing risks arising from their own activities when they have control of the premises and should take account of any guidance relevant to their specific activity and sector.
Group Exercise instructors teaching in the facility should be following the EMD UK Return to Play guidance which has been approved by DCMS and Sport England. Venues can download a copy of this here free of charge.
