Schools encouraged to Hit the Ground Running this term

Posted 9th September 2021

Primary schools throughout South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire are being encouraged to get the school year off to an active start with a weekly running challenge.

The School Games organisers from each county have partnered with Totally Runable to provide ‘Hit the Ground Running’, a free, flexible way to support children to be more active during the school day throughout the majority of the Autumn term.

Schools can register at anytime during the term, but the first challenge will run from Monday 27 September. Each week, registered schools will be emailed a new challenge, but there’s no requirement to take part in every one. There will be weekly leaderboards so you and your pupils can see how you’re getting on in a county-wide event.

Research has shown the benefits to physical and mental wellbeing, as well as evidence showing exercise can make children more alert in other subjects.

Schools can sign up online now.

Hit the Ground Running will take place between Monday 27 September and Friday 10 December.
