Schools resource to help tackle bullying & discrimination with RFL

While #AntiBullyingWeek and the Rugby League World Cup have ended, we know that bullying is a huge issue that should be combatted year-round. Our charity partners, Community Integrated Care have an incredible, fun and accessible Anti Bullying resource aligned to Key Stages 1 and 2 that can be used whenever, with lots of amazing prizes now available for participating schools.

Help tackle bullying & discrimination

On The Same Team is a free Primary School Education Resource Pack, complete with engaging videos, classroom and assembly activities, teacher notes and guidance, designed by one of Britain’s biggest social care charities, Community Integrated Care.

Sadly, it’s been created as a response to the rise in hate crime in society, in particular discrimination rates against people with learning disabilities is up around 40% in the past year.

It uses the power of Rugby League and inspirational stories of people with learning disabilities, to encourage young learners to have kind, compassionate and supportive attitudes.

Impact so far

Celebrating what makes every person special, On The Same Team has been designed specifically to tackle bullying and discrimination before prejudices are formed. So far, it’s been accessed by 15,000 children, has been praised by HRH The Princess of Wales, and featured on Channel 4, which you can view here:

Prizes on offer for participating schools

A range of exclusive prizes are available to win including:

  • Signed shirts from England Rugby League’s Men’s and Women’s team
  • Sporting equipment
  • Visits to your school from rugby league stars
  • Videos messages from Rugby league stars for your students and social media
  • Certificates for every student at your school taking part

Resources are directly linked to the English National Curriculum KS1 and KS2, and are suitable for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. They support the school curriculum themes of Self-Esteem, Behaviour, Health and Wellbeing. ‘British Values’, Mutual Respect, Tolerance, Communities, Equality and Diversity.
