Previous Experience
Adam has worked in developing opportunities for children and young people in sport and physical activity for over 15 years. First starting as a sports coach and community cricket development officer in North Leeds, Adam moved into sport development and wider education based programmes. Adam then worked for 12 years in Sheffield as a School Games Organiser and Partnership Development Manager for the Arches School Sport Partnership, providing opportunities to develop physical education, school sport, physical activity and play across over 50 schools. Mosty recently Adam has taken the role of Development Coach for the Youth Sport Trust, supporting programmes across South Yorkshire and the North of England such as School Games, Barclays Girls Football School Partnerships, Boys Move and Alternative Provision/ PRU support.
During his work in Sheffield Adam led the Move More Schools Network as well as being a key member of the Sheffield PE, School Sport and Physical Activity Alliance which delivered and coordinated the Department for Education pilot in to Primary School physical activity and teacher training. Adam has provided the opportunity for thousands of young people to become active through direct delivery, as well as supporting the strategic direction of sport and physical activity across the city. Adam has been involved in development and delivery of the Special Olympics, Rugby League World Cup legacy and UEFA Women’s Euros Legacy plans across Sheffield as well as development of many other sports/ opportunities including Cycling, Baseball and local Holiday Activity and Food Programmes.
Adam won the National Outstanding Contribution to School Games Award in 2020 for the work undertaken during Covid-19 Lockdown to get children and young people active at home. This included virtual challenges and support for young people in the most deprived areas of the city to access resources around physical activities.
Keeping Active
Adam enjoys watching all sports on a regular basis and taking his children to participate in many different activities. Adam is a first aider and game day manager at his son's local rugby club team. Adam enjoys reading around sport as well as watching local teams such as Leeds United, Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire County Cricket club.
