Areas of Work
- Working with the Data and Insight Manager to assist with data collection, processing and monitoring of data for Yorkshire Sport Foundation. Sophie splits her working week across two roles. Three days per week with YSF and two days per week as Physiologist at the UK Sports Institute (UKSI), working with the British Triathlon Olympic Programme.
Previous Experience
Sophie’s academic background originates in sport, exercise and health sciences and her professional/voluntary experience is primarily in sport science support at elite level sports teams. Following a successful unpaid placement year at the UKSI as a physiologist, working with British Athletics and British Triathlon, Sophie re-joined the UKSI upon graduation as a full-time physiologist for the Great Britain Cycling Team. Her role evolved into leading the physiology service for the Paralympic team and her Masters research project explored heat acclimation strategies in Paralympic cyclists. She now continues with this line of work with British Triathlon, supporting Olympic triathletes from The Brownlee Centre in Leeds.
Keeping Active
Sophie enjoys keeping physically active through cycling, either on her indoor turbo trainer on the Zwift cycling platform or on the flatter Yorkshire roads.
