Areas of Work:
Andrew has played many sports, but his overall passion has always been for cricket. He played cricket at various levels for 35 years including the Yorkshire League and Huddersfield League.
Andrew qualified as a cricket coach in his mid-20’s and became a volunteer for 25 years coaching children and adults at all levels (up to county standard) and in all situations, including Disabilities, Black Minority Ethnic and Women and Girls. He became a Level 3 Advanced Coach and Coach Education Tutor in the late 1980’s. He is now a Field Based Trainer for the ECB and Yorkshire Cricket Board
Andrew was appointed Cricket Development Officer for South Yorkshire by the Yorkshire Cricket Board in 1996. He was appointed Senior Cricket Development Officer for the YCB in 2004; appointed Cricket Development Manager/ Coach Education Manager in 2006 and was finally appointed Director of Development in 2007. As Development Director, Andrew’s role is to lead the Development Team of 16 staff taking full responsibility for the Yorkshire region through the writing and implementation of policies and strategies in line with Sport England ECB and the Government.
He also sits on all YCB Sub-Committees / Forums (often Chairman), including the ground breaking Yorkshire Cricket Leadership Group – bringing together the three major Yorkshire Cricket Partners. He is also a member of various ECB Cricket Foundation National Working Parties. He is Chairman of the ECB Northern Counties Directors Group covering the 6 northern counties.
Andrew is a member of the Sport England Yorkshire Strategic Steering Group who’s aims are to work closely with all national Governing Bodies and to create effective relationships to enable the delivery of Whole Sport Plans.
