Spectator information

Family and friends are welcome at all Level 3 finals to cheer on the competitors.

Here’s a few FAQ’s we’ve had from spectators in recent years.

What is the Level 3 School Games?

The School Games are made up of four levels of activity: competition in schools, between schools, and at a county/area level.

The Level 3 County finals are a culmination of the year-round inter-school competition. Teams and individuals competing at inter-school level win the opportunity to compete in this event. Pupils succeeding at this level will be encouraged to develop their enjoyment and talent in sport through existing National Governing Bodies’ club and talent pathways. Click here for more…

What are the competition dates and venues?
The latest competition dates and venues can be viewed here.

What can I expect at the Winter and/or Summer festival?
The School Games Festival is a multi-sport showcase event intended to emulate the excitement and feel of the Olympic Games.

What time do I need to arrive on the day of the final?
If you are bringing a child to a final, registration begins one hour before the start of the competition. Check the event information (available from your childs school) for all timings, including competition start and estimated finish time.

Who do I contact if my child is going to be late?
If your team/child is going to be late for registration please contact Event Manager, Emma Binnersley on 07722259039. Please note, if your child is late for the start of the final itself, their participation will be at the discretion of the Event Manager.

Who do I speak to if I have a query at the event?
Look out for a member of the Yorkshire Sport Foundation team.  We’re easy to spot – we wear bright green t-shirts! Speak to the nearest member of our team and they’ll be able to help you.

Where do I find risk assessments and welfare information?
The event Risk Assessments and Welfare Statement can be downloaded here.

Is there an entry fee?
No, all events are free to attend.

Where can I park?

Are there refreshments available?
We do not provide refreshments, but event venues usually have a cafe or vending machines. Competitors and spectators are advised to bring their own refreshments if possible.

Can I take pictures at the event?
Spectators can take pictures but please be considerate of other competitors, spectators and our official photographers. Children who have requested not to have photos taken of them will be wearing coloured wrist bands. If you find a child with a wrist band in the back of one of your photos, you MUST NOT share this on any social media sites.
