South Yorkshire School Games ‘Run Into Summer’

The South Yorkshire School Games team are excited to offer secondary schools (year 7 – 11) a county-wide competitive challenge that doesn’t require any equipment and can be done at any time, in any place!

The challenge will begin on Monday 26 April and will run until Friday 21 May, giving teams four weeks to log as many miles as they can.

The final leaderboard will be calculated by averaging a team’s total miles by the number of children, encouraging teamwork and determination.

We understand the current challenges schools have taking part in regular physical activity. This challenge aims to provide a simple solution where children can be part of something and getting them outside and active!

Simply follow the steps below for your schools to take part.

  • Sign up your team, bubble or class here.
  • Log your miles over the four weeks.
  • Take part in optional mini-challenges. These will include photo competitions, cross-curricular activities and timed challenges.

South Yorkshire School Games Primary Tri-Golf Challenge

As our usual Tri-Golf events will not be taking place this year, the South Yorkshire School Games team are excited to offer a county-wide competition working with The Golf Foundation!

Schools can practice their golf skills during the first half of the summer term and then complete the competition format and submit scores by Friday 21 May. The scores submitted will be available on a national leaderboard and we will also filter this down to South Yorkshire too! There will be a leaderboard for both School Games Values and scores.

The competition will be based around a four-game Golf Skills Competition which enables scoring to be easy to follow. The skills will be ‘Grand National’, ‘Tunnel Ball’, ‘Zone Ball’ and ‘Go for the Green’.

This competition is aimed at year three to year six.

Simply follow the steps below for your schools to take part.

  • Sign up your team, bubble, class or school here.
  • When you have signed up, you will receive the full details on how to take part and how to submit your scores.
  • Practise your golf skills then submit your best scores by Friday 21 May to see where you rank in the leaderboard!
