Move More is a whole systems approach to creating a culture of physical activity in Sheffield.
It has been in operation since 2012 and is a strategy and brand which is driven by the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine, Sheffield (NCSEM) as part of the London 2012 Olympic Legacy Programme. The NCSEM partnership includes high-level support from the key anchor institutions across Sheffield.
Yorkshire Sport Foundation is one of the partners and we provide support with a Development Manager and two Development Officers working across the district.
The ultimate aim of Move More is to help create the conditions to make it easier for people to be more active and move a little more. With a focus on six areas; communities, environments, health and social care, pupils and schools, sport, and workplaces.
The research hub for Move More is at The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, the most advanced research and development centre for health and physical activity in the world, with a mission to prevent and treat chronic disease through co-designed research into physical activity.
