People and skills

There are so many incredible people, groups and organisations already working for our common purpose of a valued and inclusive sport and physical activity sector for all.

We know we need to develop the skills and capabilities of our workforce to effectively and efficiently help supply meet demand. We want a workforce that represents the communities and places we work in and fit for the future.

To do this we will:

  • Influence nationally and regionally to identify workforce needs and show how developing skills can respond to local economic need.

  • Influence health and care workforce and systems to recognise how living a more active lifestyle unlocks wider health, economic, social and organisational value.

  • Work with others to listen, learn and understand where we can better support diverse leadership and communities.

Areas of work

We have supported local skills accountability boards in Doncaster and Sheffield. Building relationships with a range of education, employers, community and council stakeholders to bring together a local skills strategy that will:

  • Ensure local colleges, universities and training providers offer education and training that match employers' needs.
  • Provide employers with the skilled workforce to offer great sport and physical activity opportunities that are inclusive, meet the needs of diverse local communities, and drive business success.
  • Give the people who work in sport and physical activity great career pathways.
