If you are a staff member or volunteer of a sports club and you have a National Governing Body then they may have specific safeguarding training that they wish for you to complete. Please seek guidance from them in the first instance.

Yorkshire Sport Foundation and other partners run the following UK Coaching courses:

  • Safeguarding and Protecting Children

  • Renewal: Safeguarding and Protecting Children

  • Keeping Safe in Sport: Safeguarding for Young Volunteers

  • Safeguarding Adults in Sport

Details of these courses can be found on the UK Coaching website: https://www.ukcoaching.org

These are the recommended courses for coaches and volunteers involved in sport. For details of courses available visit our Coach Education Calendar

Local Safeguarding Children Partnerships also run training – this is multi-agency training so is a good opportunity to learn from different organisations.

Coaches can earn a nationally-recognised Duty to Care digital badge by completing free knowledge checks covering the six pillars: Diversity, Inclusion, Mental Health & Well-being, Physical Well-being, Safeguarding and Safe to Practice.

High Speed Training provide a free, online Safeguarding in Sport course. This is suitable for adults who work or volunteer at a sports club, are in a position of trust, and have a duty of care towards the children. This applies whether you work at grassroots or professional level and whether you're a coach, volunteer, safeguarding lead, committee member, parent or different role.

More training covering a wide range of safeguarding topics to come soon.
