Previous Experience
After starting up and leading a sports camp for children whilst at university, Daniel worked as an Active Travel Officer across South Yorkshire, where he delivered exciting activities for children and families and supported staff with embedding active travel into the school.
Daniel has delivered a range of innovative activities and programmes to increase physical activity levels. As Schools Engagement Coordinator, he engaged primary and SEND schools across the city, as part of a team that inspired 60,000 people to play Beat the Street in Sheffield. Daniel was also part of teams that delivered the Schools Tour de Yorkshire and the South Yorkshire wide 10 Day Active Travel Challenge. During lockdown, he took the initiative to create the nationally award nominated STARS South Yorkshire YouTube Channel, featuring educational videos to teach children the benefits of active travel and physical activity.
Daniel coordinated Dame Kelly Holmes Trust’s award-winning Sheffield school and community programme, creating opportunities for young people to raise their confidence, resilience and self-esteem being mentored by an elite athlete.
Daniel is passionate about creating opportunities for all children and young people to enjoy the benefits of being active in a positive environment. He enjoys living this out in his work at Yorkshire Sport Foundation.
Keeping Active
Daniel loves to enjoy playing and competing in a wide range of sports and activities from futsal and cycling to climbing and tennis. His favourite sporting memories include representing Sheffield FC at an international tournament in Germany, winning the Scottish Universities Football Cup for the University of Dundee, completing the Sheffield Half Marathon and competing (not so successfully) in the Racketlon Staffordshire Open.
