Bradford
Bradford is a district on the edge of the Pennines stretching from a city built by the textile industry to the moorlands of Brontë Country.
It is the youngest city in Europe and the UK's City of Culture 2025.
Active Bradford is the place partnership with a physical activity strategy for the district.
- It supports those planning and delivering opportunities for people to be active,
- develops new opportunities through strategic plans and programmes,
- promotes opportunities through campaigns and other communications, and
- influences decision makers on the role sport and physical activity can play in broader strategic plans.
Active Bradford works with many partners across the district, including Sport England, Bradford City FC, Bradford Bulls RLFC, Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group, Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure, Bradford Hate Crime Alliance, Bradford City FC Community Foundation and other representatives of community sport and physical activity.
All of the partners help to develop and deliver a wide range of opportunities to be active. They work together, through Active Bradford to:
- collectively influence strategic plans,
- give support to each other and other bodies, and
- develop and collectively promote opportunities through ongoing campaigns and events.
Bradford's JU:MP was one of Sport England's 12 Local Delivery Pilots.
How we support Bradford
Tahir is our lead in developing, fostering and managing relationships in Bradford, with additional support from the wider YSF team. This nurturing of relationships is designed to support people being more active, particularly people living with the greatest challenges who will benefit most. We are a founding member organisation of Active Bradford, with Tahir providing day-to-day support to help deliver the Active Bradford strategy.
