Move More Wakefield is a place‑based partnership led by Wakefield Council and a wide range of local organisations, all working together to ensure that everyone in the Wakefield District has the opportunity to enjoy the best possible mental and physical health, regardless of where they are born, live, grow, work or age.

Our purpose is to work alongside local organisations and communities to create lasting, meaningful change, particularly in neighbourhoods where support is needed most. Our shared aim is to help people live more active, healthier lives for longer. Our work is rooted in listening to communities rather than prescribing solutions. We focus on building trust and supporting local people and organisations who know their neighbourhoods best, recognising that sustainable change comes from within communities themselves.

Through a collective, whole‑system approach, we are helping to create the right conditions for people across Wakefield to move more, feel better and live well, with a particular focus on place‑based work in Featherstone & Streethouse, Eastmoor & College Grove, and Knottingley & Ferrybridge.

How we support Wakefield

Sarah is our lead in developing, fostering and managing relationships in Wakefield, with additional support from the wider YSF team. This nurturing of relationships is designed to support people being more active, particularly people living with the greatest challenges who will benefit most.
