Open Your Opportunity Data
Do you want more people to enjoy your activities? There is an easy way to advertise your sessions and facilities to a much wider audience, for free. Any finder that uses the OpenActive standard shares data with other providers so we all have the best information together.
Yorkshire Sport Foundation is committed to opening activity data, so it’s as easy to find and book a dance class as a hotel room.
This is our activity and organisation finder that pulls open data from Openactive data feeds as well as hosting our club directory.
OpenActive is a community-led initiative to support the physical activity sector to share information faster, smarter and more accurately. It helps people to find the right activities for them, and helps organisations reach new customers.
What is in it for me as an activity provider?
- Get your activities and sessions listed in a wider range of apps and services, letting you reach a broader audience through more channels than before
- Make it simpler for new or existing customers to find the activities that you run
- New ways of reaching the more vulnerable groups of people that may struggle to be physically active i.e people with disabilities
- Find new ways to promote and fill quiet sessions. You could see a 15 to 20% increase.
- Making your data open means that developers and apps can use it straight away; you don’t need to set up data sharing agreements with individual companies
- Have your say on the development of the data standards so that they work for you

How do I upload my activities?
Open Active have a marketplace here, that supports you with selecting the right way of opening up your opportunity data, depending on whether you have a third-party system already, use a bespoke system or do not currently have an online system.
We have also included a walkthrough below to upload activities if you would like to use Sportsuite.
Uploading Activities through Sportsuite
- Log in or create an account in our Sportsuite system
- Add your organisation (or ask to be linked to an existing one)
- Add your activity
That’s it, you are now on national activity finders along with data from other OpenActive standard finders like Open Sessions and Playwaze.
