Help reduce health inequalities in Wakefield
Wakefield is looking for partners who can help develop its major Place Expansion programme with Sport England, focused on improving long‑term wellbeing through community‑led physical activity in the areas that need it most.
Building on proven success through campaigns such as Active Through Football and Place Transition Funding, its now targeting three hyperlocal communities with the biggest opportunity for impact:
- Featherstone & Streethouse
- Knottingley & Ferrybridge
- Eastmoor & College Grove
The goal is simple:
- Embed physical activity into everyday life
- Strengthen locally trusted organisations
- Create safe, inclusive spaces
- Connect physical activity with wider priorities like mental health, ageing well and community resilience
To make this happen, they are seeking partners who can contribute, financially or in kind, to help deepen our reach and drive sustainable system change across the district.
Key date:
• By 2 March – Confirm partnership funding or support
• 2 April – Full application submitted to Sport England
