Nominations open for Disability Sport Yorkshire Awards

Nominations are now open for the Disability Sport Yorkshire Awards 2025, celebrating the outstanding achievements of individuals, teams, and organisations that make disability sport in Yorkshire truly exceptional.

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 25 April 2025 at The Centenary Pavilion, Elland Road, Leeds.

People are encouraged to nominate in the following award categories:

  • Young Achiever Award: Recognising an up-and-coming athlete (under 21) who has shown great promise and determination.
  • The Gary Hayton Yorkshire Sports Personality of the Year: Awarded to an athlete who has demonstrated outstanding performance and dedication in their sport.
  • Team of the Year: Celebrating a team that has excelled in competition and fostered inclusivity.
  • Coach of the Year: Honouring a coach who has gone above and beyond to support and develop disabled athletes.
  • Volunteer of the Year: Awarded to an individual whose selfless commitment has made a significant impact on disability sport.
  • Cyril Villiers Organisation of the Year: Recognising an organisation that has led the way in inclusivity and accessibility, perhaps through the delivery of a programme or that has demonstrated considerable initiative in ensuring access to physical activity and sport for disabled people.
  • Tony Stones School of the Year Award: Recognising a school that has made significant strides in ensuring inclusive sports opportunities for disabled students.
  • Service to Sport Award: Recognising an individual who has dedicated their life to the growth and development of disability sport.
