School Games Organisers Network Funding Confirmed
The Government has confirmed funding for the School Games Organisers Network has been extended for the 2026/27 financial year.
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has confirmed funding for the School Games Organisers Network has now been extended to cover the remainder of the 2026/27 Financial Year. Previously, funding was in place to the end of the 2025/26 Academic Year (August) so is now provided to cover an additional two school terms.
The national School Games Organisers Network is made up of more than 450 SGOs and each year creates more than 2 million opportunities for children and young people to access and enjoy play and sport.
YSF's Development Manager for Children and Young People Adam Fuller said: "This announcement will be welcomed by the schools and partners across South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, allowing for some reassurance in the coming months around their role. The School Games Organisers across our nine local authority areas work tirelessly to provide countless inspiring opportunities to targeted young people, and continuously support schools across our area in developing PE, school sport, physical activity and play.
"The announcement will hopefully provide a platform to further the conversations nationally and locally around the Government’s plans for a new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network. We hope that this news is a step towards the Government’s longer-term vision and look forward to hearing more very soon about the wider strategy, implementation and investment."
