Sheffield gets its first Indoor pickleball centre

Sheffield is about to make sporting history with the launch of the North’s first and only dedicated indoor pickleball centre, opening its doors on Monday 3rd November.

This brand-new venue offers three professional acrylic courts in an all-weather space for pickleball players of all abilities, from complete beginners to competitive athletes and is set to become a hub for South Yorkshire’s rapidly growing pickleball community.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a dynamic, fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a smaller court with a lower net, and lightweight carbon fibre paddles and a plastic ball, it’s easy to pick up, low impact on joints, and incredibly fun and social, making it perfect for all ages and fitness levels.

With the game attracting more than 36 million players worldwide (according to the New York Times), the sport is rumoured to be included in the 2032 Olympics.

Founder and owner, Gina Floyd, explains: “Pickleball is such a fun, accessible and welcoming sport. My girlfriend, Hannah and I, fell in love with it when in America and Mexico last year. It’s so social and we made lots of friends from all walks of life and of all ages.”

Peak Pickleball will offer:

  • Introductory sessions – Perfect for people who are brand new to the sport
  • Level-based Open Play sessions – Group sessions with round-robin games. Come alone or with friends and be grouped with players of your skill level (Starter/Improver, Intermediate, Intermediate PLUS and Advanced players)
  • Court Bookings – Bring friends or join others for casual or competitive games
  • Coaching – Learn from qualified, passionate instructors either individually, or in pairs or threes
  • Skills and Drills clinics – Group sessions focused on training to build technique and consistency
  • Ball Machine Hire – Ideal for solo practice and improving specific shots

With court bookings starting from just £20 for students and £24 standard rate, the centre offers affordable access to a premium indoor pickleball facility. All equipment is FREE to use, and top paddles from sponsored brand Diadem are available to buy in the pro-shop.

Floyd continues: “Pickleball is perfect for Sheffield because it is such an active city already, but pickleball also offers something new and different. Because it’s easy to pick up, but challenging to master, which means you don’t need to be a classically sporty person to play.” She adds, “Racquet experience helps, but people who are new to sport, or who have taken a break from exercise, or never felt like sport is for them, it’s a brilliant sport to get involved in.”

Bookings Open Monday 27th October

Reservations for courts, classes open play, and coaching sessions will go live on Monday 27th October, with the first available bookings from Monday 3rd November. Early booking is recommended as demand is expected to be high.
