Sheffield: The First City of Sport for Development
This event in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University presents the idea of Sheffield as the first City of 'Sport For Development' in the UK. Sport for development is the intentional use of sport and physical activity to generate positive social outcomes.

This event will share information, examples and case studies of sport for development practice and provide the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and ideas and to help shape the initiative.
This event will be facilitated by the Sheffield Children, Youth and Families (SCYF) Consortium which comprises approximately 30 local organisations with a focus on improving the lives of children and families in the most in need places in Sheffield. The SCYF Consortium has a focus on increasing provision and access to sport, physical and cultural activities - the things that make life worth living. We believe that through collaboration and effective working we can create a better community and provide enriching life experiences for people.
The event will be for an open audience who want to learn about sport for development, ask questions, debate and support the initiative of launching of Sheffield as a City of Sport For Development.
Themes include: social impact through sport and physical activity; addressing health inequalities via enhanced provision and access to sport and physical activity; Innovation; enriching lives and transforming communities; collaboration and community connection / synergy.
