YSF supports UPLIFT Festival across Rotherham this summer

Uplift Programme 2026 (1)

Yorkshire Sport Foundation has proudly supported the development and delivery of the UPLIFT Festival across Rotherham, helping bring exciting opportunities for children and families to get active, creative and connected throughout the summer.

As part of Rotherham's Children’s Capital of Culture programme, UPLIFT has been delivered through Place Funding from Arts Council England, bringing together the very best of urban and alternative sports, arts and culture. The festival offers a vibrant programme of high-energy activities and creative experiences designed to inspire children and young people across the borough.

The programme has included a diverse range of events and activities, from a schools programme during the final week of term to a Friday evening Roller Disco, six outreach activity days in parks, skateparks and green spaces, and a large-scale town centre celebration in Rotherham.

Working closely with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council's events team, Yorkshire Sport Foundation has helped coordinate and connect partners from across the borough to showcase alternative and accessible ways for young people to stay active during the summer holidays. The collaboration has brought together a wide range of organisations and activity providers, including Nova City Parkour, Rotherham BMX, Rotherham Mountain Bike Club, GB Extreme, Unity Boxing, Team Rubicon, Rockin Roller World and Sheffield Sharks Basketball Club.

The festival has given thousands of children and young people the opportunity to try something new, discover activities close to home and learn how they can continue taking part beyond the summer programme.

Yorkshire Sport Foundation - Children and Young People Development Manager, Adam Fuller said:

"It has been fantastic to see thousands of children engage in alternative activities close to their homes across the summer, and be provided with information about where they can continue these activities across the borough moving forward.

"It has been a pleasure to work with wider partners across Rotherham in art, music and culture to provide positive experiences of movement for young people so they can find something that they can continue engaging with."

Through its involvement in UPLIFT, Yorkshire Sport Foundation has helped create new opportunities for children and families to experience the benefits of physical activity while celebrating the creativity, culture and community spirit that make Rotherham's Children’s Capital of Culture programme such a success.
