Areas of Work

  • Helping to shape the strategic direction and operation of the organisation, and supporting an extensive network of partners and stakeholders across South Yorkshire.
  • Leading the team that support the development of the place partnership collaborations across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
  • Influencing policy, process and practice at a sub-regional level advocating for physical activity within wider agendas such as health, climate change and economic growth

Previous Experience

Gayle has many years experience working in public, private and charity sector partnerships. She has delivered projects working with communities to improve wellbeing and safety and enjoys working collaboratively across geographical and organisational boundaries to achieve a shared aim. She joined the team in September 2019 having spent the previous 4 years at Citizens Advice working as part of a team responsible for training over 21,000 volunteers to give people the advice they need.

Prior to this Gayle worked at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for 9 years in various roles, all involving community engagement, partnership working and relationship building, leading major projects such as turning an old disused fire station into a community learning centre.

Before becoming Director for South Yorkshire  Gayle worked as our Development Manager for Wakefield.

Keeping Active

Gayle is a regular runner and an advocate of outdoor activity for positive mental health. She builds active travel into her daily routines and enjoys spending weekends walking in beautiful hilly and coastal spots.
