Previous Experience
Tom has most recently spent 10 years with Sheffield City working in a number of roles in their Physical Activity Team. Most recently, Tom’s role was as a Sport Development Manager running a number of projects and initiatives to help the people of Sheffield to Move More.
Tom became a resident of Sheffield when studying at Sheffield Hallam University and after a brief stint working for Darlington Borough Council following graduation, he moved back to the City to continue his career in helping others to take up sport and physical activity. Starting as a Community Sports Coach and moving in to Development Officer roles, and most recently as a Development Manager.
Creating partnerships and developing opportunities for other people to benefit from Sport and Physical Activity is what Tom is passionate about and having spent 10 years in Sheffield doing this, he is well connected to help organisations, residents and partners to become more active.
Tom has delivered a number of successful projects, most recently the This Girl Can campaign, working with four of Sheffield’s voluntary sector organisations to help get their local communities more active. He recognises the value that physical activity can have on individuals and communities and is committed to creating more opportunities for people to access these opportunities.
Keeping Active
Tom plays football on a regular basis and is also a keen gym goer and a budding cyclist.
He is also a Guinness World Record Holder having led on Sheffield’s attempt to get the largest number of people playing hopscotch simultaneously, which they successfully achieved in June 2019!
