Projects in Leeds and Sheffield shortlisted for Sport Positive Awards

Leeds Equipment and Kit Exchange Partnership (LEKEP) and Nature Based Blades have been shortlisted for the Sport Positive Awards 2024. 

LEKEP has been nominated in the Purpose-led Partnership category for those working on sustainability issues. Sheffield United Community Foundation’s Nature Based Blades is in the running for Education and training for its work in positive behaviour change and community engagement. 

The awards celebrate and raise awareness of people and organisations using the power of sport to tackle the biggest issues of our time. 

Leeds Equipment and Kit Exchange Partnership 

The city-wide partnership for kit exchange brings together organisations like Zero Waste Leeds and Action For Sport with professional sports organisations like Leeds United Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation. The aim is to tackle inequalities in priority neighbourhoods and stopping the price of sports kit being a barrier to enjoying physical activity.  The project works with residents to move towards net zero ambitions. wellbeing outcomes and inclusive growth.

Nature Based Blades 

This new project is working with young people to create positive behaviour changes on climate action will have long reaching benefits, not only to the individuals involved but to the entire city of Sheffield. The project has already seen 3 Nature Based Solutions implemented into schools and raised aspirations for young people to seek green careers having previously never considered a career in relation to preserving our planet.  

Winners will be announced on October 8 at a ceremony at the Kia Oval in London
