Experienced community leader to help shape a healthier, happier and more active Kirklees

Everybody Active is delighted to announce the appointment of Rashida Salloo as its new Chair, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for improving health and wellbeing through sport and physical activity.

Rashida has spent more than 15 years working across the sport, physical activity and community development sectors in Kirklees, helping individuals and communities overcome barriers to being active. Her appointment comes at an exciting time for the partnership as Everybody Active embarks on a refresh of its strategy to further strengthen opportunities for people across the district to lead active lives.

As the founder of Ready Steady Active, an award-winning community organisation, Rashida has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative programmes that support people to become more active, healthier and better connected. Alongside her community-focused work, she brings extensive strategic experience from across the sport, health and physical activity sectors at both local and national levels.

Speaking about her appointment, Rashida said:

"Having spent over 15 years working with communities across Kirklees to address physical inactivity, I have seen first-hand the transformative power of sport and physical activity, not only in changing individual lives, but in helping our communities to thrive.

"I'm delighted to be taking on the role of Chair of the Everybody Active partnership at such a pivotal time. I'm looking forward to bringing partners and communities together around a shared ambition to create the conditions that make being active easier and more accessible for everyone in Kirklees."

In her new role, Rashida will work closely with partners from across Kirklees to build on the significant progress already being made and provide strategic leadership for the partnership's shared vision of creating a healthier, happier and more active district.  Her appointment reflects Everybody Active's ongoing commitment to collaboration, community engagement and reducing inequalities in physical activity. By bringing together organisations, communities and stakeholders, the partnership aims to ensure that everyone in Kirklees has the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of being active, regardless of age, background or ability.

Everybody Active is looking forward to working with Rashida as the partnership enters its next phase and continues its mission to make physical activity more accessible, inclusive and impactful for all residents across Kirklees.

Welcome to the role, Rashida.
