Team YSF prepares to get moving for National Fitness Day 2026
On Wednesday 16 September 2026, colleagues from across Yorkshire Sport Foundation will join thousands of people across the UK in celebrating National Fitness Day, a day dedicated to highlighting the benefits of movement for both our physical and mental well-being.
To mark the occasion, colleagues will come together for an exciting workplace activity, the 20 in 20 Challenge, designed to get us moving more, connect, and build healthier habits that last.
YSF CEO, Carl Hawkes said: "We spend every day championing the power of movement, physical activity and sport, so it’s only right that we challenge ourselves too! 20 in 20 is a simple, fun way for us to practise what we preach – getting colleagues moving, trying something different and hopefully having a few laughs along the way. I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone gets involved!"
The 20 in 20 challenge
Starting on Wednesday 16 September and running until Tuesday 6 October, colleagues will form teams and challenge themselves to complete:
✅ 20 minutes of activity
✅ Across 20 days of movement
The goal is simple: make time to move.
Whether that's walking, running, cycling, swimming, stretching, attending a fitness class, or simply getting outdoors for some fresh air, every activity counts.
Alongside friendly competition, the challenge offers a fantastic opportunity to encourage one another, celebrate achievements, and enjoy some team spirit along the way.
More than just exercise
While the challenge is designed to be fun, the benefits extend far beyond the finish line.
Being more active can help:
-
Improve physical health and fitness
-
Boost mood and mental wellbeing
-
Increase energy levels
-
Reduce stress
-
Improve sleep quality
-
Build positive habits that last
Most importantly, it's about supporting one another and creating a healthier, happier workplace together.
Rewards that keep you moving
Participants will have access to wellbeing incentives, including opportunities such as discounted gym memberships, helping colleagues maintain their fitness journey long after National Fitness Day has passed.
It's a great way to turn 20 days of activity into a long-term commitment to health and wellbeing.
Track progress and celebrate success
Using the activity dashboard, colleagues will be able to:
-
Log their activity
-
Track team progress
-
View leaderboards
-
Celebrate milestones
-
Stay motivated throughout the challenge
Expect plenty of encouragement, healthy competition, and success stories as teams work together towards their goals.
