South Yorkshire Mayor’s Youth Impact Fund opens to support talented young people in sport

SYMCA youth fund

Talented young people across South Yorkshire can now apply for funding to help them develop their skills and fulfil their potential through the new South Yorkshire Mayor’s Youth Impact Fund.

The fund has been established to support gifted and talented young people aged 11 to 19 by removing financial barriers that can often limit access to specialist training, coaching, equipment, travel and development opportunities.

Backed by an initial £25,000 contribution from South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), the initiative is being delivered in partnership with The King’s Trust and South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF). Additional funding will be raised through a network of ambassadors and ongoing fundraising activity.

Grants ranging from £2,000 to £10,000 are available for young people who show exceptional promise in their chosen field, helping them access opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

The fund could provide invaluable support for talented young athletes, enabling them to access specialist coaching, training opportunities, equipment and travel that can help them progress in sport and achieve their ambitions.

Young people, families and supporters are encouraged to explore the opportunity and submit applications before the fund closes in December. Applications are now open through South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation.
