World Mental Health Day 2026: Support today saves lives tomorrow

09102025 007

World Mental Health Day takes place on Saturday 10 October 2026, providing an opportunity to raise awareness, start conversations and highlight the importance of mental wellbeing.

This year, mental health charity Mind is encouraging people to get behind its message: "Support today saves lives tomorrow." The campaign highlights the importance of ensuring people can access the right mental health support when they need it, helping to prevent problems from escalating and supporting better outcomes.

Physical activity can play an important role in supporting mental health. Whether it's walking, cycling, taking part in sport or simply moving more, being active can help boost mood, reduce stress and strengthen social connections. Sport England's research also highlights the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on mental wellbeing.

World Mental Health Day is a reminder that everyone has a role to play in creating supportive communities where people feel able to talk openly about their mental and access help when they need it.
