The Big Club Conversation is back

Sport England's 'Big Club Conversation' is returning with sessions due to be running in December and January. 

In 2021 Sport England ran a series of partner forum sessions titled ‘Big Club Conversation’. Those sessions helped understand the landscape for clubs after a couple of difficult years, during and after Covid 19. 

Now 4 years Sport England are looking to engage the conversation again, ‘Big Club Conversation 2.0’. The plan is to hold the conversation across two sessions to make sure to allow enough time to have fruitful conversations and share experiences.

These sessions are exclusively for clubs / volunteering workforce leads from active partnerships or NGBs. 

Where are the biggest gaps that Sport England could help address?
There are a number of key areas to explore:

• Progress and Evolution:
  How have partners strengthened their club networks? What’s working well in areas like sustainability, workforce development, and inclusivity?
• Current Challenges:
  What barriers are clubs facing around capacity, funding, governance, and participation? How are partners adapting their support models in response?
• Strategic Ambitions:
  What does success in club development look like for you? How does this fit within the wider organisational and workforce strategies? How far ahead are you looking / what horizon scanning have you undertaken?
• Prioritisation and Support:
  How is club development positioned within priorities? What types of support (guidance, training, funding, insight, people resource) are most valued by clubs?
• Online resources:
  How are partners utlising online resources and how are you splitting support for clubs i.e. utilising online resources vs in person support? And what challenges are you facing with both of these approaches? 

There are a choice of two dates in December for part 1 of the conversation:

• 12th December 10 -11:30
• 15th December 10 – 11:30

There are a choice of two dates in January for part 2.

• 12th January 11 – 12:30
• 16th January 12 – 1.30

Where possible partners should be involved in both parts of the conversation.
