This Girl Can launches Move for 10 challenge to help more women get active
Move for 10 is a simple, flexible challenge with one achievable goal: move for 10 minutes, 10 times in a month. No strict schedule, no fixed start date, no pressure to find time for a full workout. Just 10 minutes, done your way, whenever it works for you.
The challenge has been designed to tackle a persistent gap. The latest Active Lives data shows there are half a million fewer active women than men in England, and the barriers many women face are real and complex, particularly for those on lower incomes or from underrepresented groups. Move for 10 is designed with those realities in mind, fitting around real life rather than asking women to find time they simply don't have.
The good news is that even small amounts of movement make a real difference. The Chief Medical Officers' guidelines show that just 10 minutes of activity can boost mood, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and increase energy. Small steps add up.
A free online tracker is available on the This Girl Can website, letting participants log their activity, record how movement made them feel and count their way to completing the challenge. A downloadable paper tracker is also available for those who prefer it.
At Yorkshire Sport Foundation, helping more women across Yorkshire to move more and feel better is central to what we do. Move for 10 is a fantastic, low-barrier way to get started, and we encourage women across Yorkshire to take up the challenge.
