CIMSPA launches Training Academy

The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) is launching The Training Academy for Sport and Physical Activity. The Training Academy for Sport and Physical Activity has been designed in collaboration with employers, education providers and professionals working across the sector to provide easy access to quality-assured training.

Through work with Local Skills Accountability Boards across the country, and work nationally, they identified skills gaps from hundreds of employers. As you will know, these gaps make it difficult for our sector to increase participation, particularly in hardest to engage populations. Skills shortages are also hampering our sector in scaling the vital work it is doing to improve health and wellbeing across communities.

All of the training, learning and qualifications offered through the Training Academy for Sport and Physical Activity is endorsed and mapped to the sector’s recognised Professional Standards. This means that sector professional, employers and those looking to start a career can be assured that it will support them in developing skills, knowledge and competencies that clients need and that will drive their career forward.

There is also the opportunity to collaborate and access provision that is bespoke to individual organisational needs. For example, if there’s a niche skillset that an employer needs their staff to develop but it would be too expensive to deliver an in-house course for small numbers, the provision can be developed and offered to a wider audience through the Training Academy. This results in a larger cohort of learners and reduced cost to each employer.
