Huddersfield Giants Community Trust set to enhance The Zone

zone 2

The Trust is proud to unveil an exciting project of developments focused on it’s commitment to increasing access to more sporting opportunities, promote physical activity and improving the wellbeing of local people across the local community.

Located in the centre of Huddersfield and serving communities across Kirklees, The Zone is a dedicated indoor community facility that provides a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities to take part in sport, physical activity and positive experiences.

The upcoming redevelopment is designed to ensure The Zone continues to evolve, offering improved spaces, better flexibility for delivery and increased opportunities for social participation across a wide range of sports and community sessions delivered through Giants Community Trust.

The redevelopment will see the existing 1,700m² area developed into the following dedicated activity spaces.

  • A full upgrade of the existing 3G playing surface, including the surrounding perimeter.
  • Changes to the current second playing surface;
  • The introduction of a dedicated Training Area, complete with a specialist performance floor to accommodate a broader mix of sports, fitness and skill-based sessions.
  • Installation of a new multi-surface recreational area, creating additional capacity for accessible sports, recreational, social use and team sporting activities.

To allow the improvements to be completed safely and efficiently, The Zone will close from Monday 13th April for four weeks while work takes place.
