SCAR Hosts Event Addressing Racism Beyond Sports

The Sport Campaign Against Racism (SCAR), a leading organisation committed to combating racism across various sectors, including sports, education, and community engagement, is pleased to announce an upcoming event aimed at addressing broader societal issues.

Scheduled to take place at the Manningham Mills Sport & Community Association on Wednesday, 15th May from 6-8pm, this event will feature updates on SCAR's new strategy and a stimulating Q & A panel discussion with key figures from grassroots initiatives.

Guest Speakers include:

  • Fatima Khan-Shah, West Yorkshre Mayors Inclusivity Champion
  • Ravinder Dharni, Secretary of Albion Sports
  • Zohaib Rashid, Founder of Desiballers

  • Troy Townsend MBE, Kick It Out
  • Yunus Lunat, Lawyer and former FA Race Equality Board Chair
  • Anwar Uddin, FA Diversity & Inclusion Manager

The panel aims to foster meaningful conversations and explore avenues for collective action against racism. Dr. Ikram Butt, Executive Director of SCAR, expressed enthusiasm about the event: "We believe in the power of sports to drive positive change in society. This event will provide a platform to discuss important issues and share insights on our efforts to promote inclusivity and diversity."

The event will also include the sharing of insights from the report titled 'The Changing Rooms To Make Change,' commissioned by the West Riding County FA. Naz Shah, Member of Parliament for Bradford West, voiced her strong support for SCAR and the upcoming event: “I am proud to support SCAR and their tireless work in promoting diversity and inclusion. This event is a crucial step towards fostering a more inclusive community. I encourage everyone to participate and contribute to this vital conversation.”
