Setting the Vision for Work, Health and Skills

The Vision for Work, Health and Skills document highlights the role of sport and physical activity in getting people into employment.

The sport and physical activity sector supports people back into work with transferable skills.

The framework at the heart of this document explores the role and need for the sector to deliver on the key themes to get Britain working.  Case studies talk about some of the work that has demonstrated the benefits.

The purpose is also supporting businesses who employ people to improve their productivity as a healthy, well trained and qualified workforce is happier and more productive.

It also aims to communicate with policy makers, ensuring sport and physical activity helps people get in or stay in work, or find new career opportunities.

Carl Hawkes, YSF CEO said: “We want this report to support the sector regionally, recognise the opportunities, and encourage people to look at the sector as an employer.

“We need enthusiastic, well skilled, well trained people coming into the sector so that they can then get people more active and support health.

“The inspiration came from the Get Britain Working White Paper. It is all about that connection between work, health and skills, and why people being healthy is so important to keep people fit so that they are able to work, and keep working."
