While events can focus on local topics and audiences, all events are open to anyone interested in attending from anywhere in Yorkshire and Humber area.

The events are a follow up to the Time for Action on Racism in Sport event at Headingley Stadium in November 2024 that brought together leading organisations across the county and industry experts.

Organisations are encouraged to sign the Yorkshire and Humber Anti-Racism in Sport Group’s pledge – the Commitment to tackling Racism and racial inequality in community sport.

The group was formed in 2022 to challenge the racial inequalities that prevent or discourage people from leading active lives and enjoying the benefits of sport and physical activity.

The group is chaired by Fatima Khan-Shah, West Yorkshire’s first Inclusivity Champion, a role shared between the West Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and West Yorkshire Health and Care partnerships.

“Sport is a massive enabler for people's health and wellbeing, and a great social leveller. As society right now is so divided, we need more opportunities to bring people together.”
