Trauma-informed approaches to physical activity

MIND

On 24 March, join MIND online for a special public lecture and research launch on Trauma-informed approaches to physical activity.

Leading research from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University and Mind, supported by ASICS, shines a light on how movement can support healing.

Trauma affects millions of people and can leave individuals feeling isolated, disconnected and unsafe. Trauma-Informed Physical Activity (TIPA) offers a different approach. By creating safe, supportive and choice-led environments, TIPA programmes help people rebuild confidence, restore autonomy and reconnect with others.

This research shows that physical activity can be more than exercise. It can provide structure, belonging and a sense of control – particularly for people who have experienced trauma.

Join MIND online for the launch of this important work and explore how trauma-informed approaches can make physical activity more safe, inclusive and effective for everyone.

The lecture will take place 12pm–1pm on Tuesday 24 March.
