UKReiff 2026 - Designing health into public spaces
YSF and the Active Partnerships National Organisation (APNO), joined the Landscape Institute in hosting a dedicated pavilion at the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) at Leeds' Royal Armouries Museum.
After the first day there was a walking tour around Aire Park led by Supervene Architects celebrating what has been achieved over the last 10 years of planning, building, the landscaping surrounding the Tetley Brewery and what's coming next for the next phase. After the walk there was Sharing the Learning fringe networking event at Holy Trinity Boar Lane.
Dr Saira Ali
, President Elect of the Landscape Institute and Team Leader for Landscape Design and Conservation at Bradford Council said: "I'm here at this networking event to speak to people, make connections with people in the industry, hear stories, find out about what's going on and support the different partners and organisations.
"There's such a buzz in the air. People are talking about their work, they're talking about partnerships, they're talking about the importance of green spaces, outdoor environments, activation and everybody coming together."
Steven Heywood, YSF Active Design said: "It's been an amazing day, really inspirational. We've had some great conversations. It's great to know that everybody is on the same page and we're bringing everybody together to make that change."
Carl Hawkes, YSF CEO said: "Our role at Yorkshire Sport Foundation is to create the conditions that enable people to move more, be physically active and to engage in sport.
"A really important part of that is the the design within our environments that create those conditions day-to-day; Do we have green spaces? Are our communities safe? What opportunities do we have to travel actively?
"All of those things are so important that make it easy, if not inevitable, for people to move more and be physically active, which is why active environments is such an important part of our work in Yorkshire Sport Foundation."
